Felicitation of Indian Classical Gurus at Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, New Delhi.

Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram was honoured by the visit of five eminent Indian classical dancers- Guru Smt. Saroja Vaidyanathan, Guru Smt. Kodhai Naraynan, Guru Smt.Rashmi Jaiswal, Guru Smt.Rashmi Khanna and Guru Ms.Madhumita Raut on 18 July 2014.

The event commenced with a classical music performance by the school orchestra. The Principal, Dr. D. R. Saini, addressed the students and stressed on the importance of Indian classical dance. Also present were Mrs.Pushpa Agarwal, Vice Principal, DPS Shiksha Kendra and Mrs.Shobha Mehta, Vice Principal, DPS R.K.Puram. The school felicitated the gurus for their exceptional contribution to classical dance along with the dance gurus of the school, Ms. Renu Bassi and Mr. Daniel Fredy.

A presentation on the achievements of the students of DPS R.K. Puram in the fields of dance, music, sports and academics was shown followed by the dance performances of bharatnatyam, odissi and kathak by the students. The gurus spoke to the students about preserving India’s great cultural heritage. The programme ended with the Guru vandana by the students. The event was a treat for all lovers of Indian dance.
